Mail! Beta launched!

Mail! gives preschoolers a simple and easy to use interface for sending emails with drawings and pictures to their friends and family.
It gives the parent full control over the child's address book and lets the parent add custom images.

We're still working on the built-in image galleries and many cool features, such as text or dragging images but you can already start using it by following this link.

Spotlight on: primitive-based website

(or: do you actually produce anything?)

We are quite proud to say that our projects can run a standard home computer.
Having experience working with J2EE Application servers and content-management systems, we've came to realize that, sure, today you don't really need to know how to write code in order to build a website (or an application, for that matter). But it will look horrible and work ten times slower than using the basic primitives to do exactly what you need.

Wanna see an example of a primitive? sure thing, our ajax v3 will allow you to send ajax command to any server and have the result integrated automatically to your webpage (currently doesn't work in firefox, sorry). (Ajax v3 uses Core v1 primitive so you'll probably need it as well)

You can read more about ajax here.

Hey, where did that online bookmarking idea go?

(or: final thoughts on the projects)

Well, it's gone. Sadly enough, it failed the usabilty test. Not in the sense it wasn't easy to use - it was very easy and inviting (using java-scripted link you could've added a new bookmark in two clicks), but it wasn't what the users were looking for.

how many websites do you visit regualary each day? Most people will get around 5, for the generalized topics of search, mail, news, community and hobbies. Five sites. You don't need an application for that, since most likely you can remember them quite easily (after all, you use them every day). This is not what we intended. we wanted some place to store all those nifty sites that once in a million years will be the exact thing you've been looking for (here's an example).

For a short while, we played with idea of an online scrapbook, where you can collect all sort of stuff - images, webpages, files as well as links. We were kinda hoping to be able to actually paste, but this lovely idea won't come to life due to security issues. The killing blow was brought by Google's notebook who does the basics of what we wanted from online-bookmarking.

So online-bookmarking is dead. We hope its predecessor 'online scrapbook' will rise again sometime.

What's cooking, doc?

(or: our current projects)

We can't really tell you. it's a secret. Generally, we're playing with color and image analysis; We're planning to build a super-easy-to-use photo album and file sharing for all the grandmothers out there; We hope to build a private online-mp3-archive to play anywhere you go; We're building a new way for world-travelers to tell their stories. In other words, we're busy!

Intrigued?

(or: what's next)

We hope you like our philosophy, way of thinking or concepts shown in our projects and products.
Your feedback will be greatly appreciated and we'll be happy to share our thoughts with you as we progress deeper and broader in our various projects. Please email oded(at)nekudapsik.org with everything you have in mind. Thanks.
